I’m in the process of attempting to switch my dev machine from a Macbook Pro to a Chromebook Pixel…or at least have a backup light weight dev environment ready to go.

Modernizr it’s an awesome JS library that allows you to detect browser features, so you can conditionally load improvements…
YepNope seems like a decent solution to either 1) ignoring a problem or 2) polyfill hell.

The more I think about it, the more I dislike the notion of role players within a group. What that essentially means is you’ve got people sacrificing by doing the shitty work so everyone else can do the “important” stuff. This all starts when “leaders” define roles for the members of the team.

Staying motivated to not only stick with an exercise routine but to continually improve is not a small undertaking. For me it all comes down to metrics. If I’ve got a good tracking system I’m happy to stick with it because I can see myself gradually improving.
The problem with tracking is it adds friction to your workout. Nobody wants to be carrying around a notepad with a million stats floating around. Using an online spreadsheet is better but you’ve still got to remember your stats and enter them after your workout.

It looks like I’m going to convert to D3.js from Raphael.js for most of my data visualization. I think there will be a bit of a learning curve in getting going but I really like the direction D3 is going so I’m happy to make the jump.
